The Flying Carpet is a powerful levitation effect designed for real-world performance. From living rooms to stages, patios to parlors, and leaves a lasting impression every time.
The effect begins with a small wheeled platform rolled into view. Resting atop it is a two-panel screen supporting a “magic carpet.” A spectator or assistant (up to 100 pounds) is seated cross-legged on the carpet. Two swords are then introduced and placed in a crisscross pattern beneath the carpet for support.
The mystery deepens as the supporting screen is removed entirely and placed on the floor, revealing the swords alone, seemingly holding the subject aloft. Then, impossibly, the swords are removed—yet the person remains suspended in mid-air! For an added convincer, a solid hoop (not included) may be passed around the subject and carpet to prove there are no visible means of support.
To conclude, the screen is returned to its position, and the floating participant gently steps down to well-earned applause.
